About this Job

The Homework Help and Reading Initiatives Coordinator oversees all aspects of the Homework Help Center including homework assistance, volunteers, supplies, and class planning. Responsibilities include building effective relationships with students, parents, volunteers, and teachers, providing one-on-one and group homework help, and performing all duties of a library associate as needed. The Homework Help and Reading Initiatives coordinator works with the Public Services Managers to plan and coordinate all reading initiatives like Summer Reading and Winter Reading. This Coordinator works with each department in the library to provide materials and excellent customer service to the customers. This part-time position is responsible for recruiting, training, orienting and scheduling HHC volunteers, this position is responsible for working with department staff, and holding volunteers accountable to the library’s mission and vision as needed. Required Qualifications

Either a college degree or at least two years of college completed and combination of relevant experience
• Experience or education in teaching or training children K-12
• Excellent communication skills
• Interest in interacting positively with children, teens and adults
• Knowledge of basic library principles, methods and procedures
• Maintains professional, businesslike behavior and appearance
• Demonstrated commitment to serving library customers and residents of the community
• Must have a valid Driver’s License, maintain insurability under the library’s insurance and successfully pass a background check

• Ability to lift or push heavy objects such as boxes of books and loaded book carts
• Ability to pay attention to detail
• Ability to meet the physical demands listed
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
• Ability to work with new technologies and software
