Exploring Authority Records webinar on Thursday, May 16 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.

Join us for Exploring Authority Records on Thursday, May 16 from 2-3:30 p.m.

Authority records are a critical resource in keeping our collections accessible and organized. They underpin our ability to disambiguate between similar names, subjects, and titles in our catalogs and discovery services.

In past sessions, we’ve shown you how to search for authority records. In this webinar, attendees will discuss the two main types of authority files: subject authorities and name authorities. We’ll explore the elements of authority records, as well as methods and timelines for adding or editing shared authority records.

Beyond Business: How to Lead a Trauma-Informed Supervision Meeting on Thursday, May 23 from 2 to 3 p.m.

New! Register now for Beyond Business: How to Lead a Trauma-Informed Supervision Meeting on Thursday, May 23 from 2-3 p.m.

One-on-one supervision meetings or check-ins are an integral part of any healthy supervisor-employee relationship. It provides time for staff to share concerns, and for supervisors to provide advice, mentorship, and feedback. However, most supervisors are ill-equipped to lead these meetings, which can often lead to a discussion which feels more like an interrogation than an important opportunity to connect with one’s superior.

In this training session, we’ll discuss the difference between supervision meetings and staff counseling sessions, and how to conduct both from a trauma-informed, empathetic perspective.
