Introduction to Sexuality and Gender Acceptance
Description
In this LGBQ & T (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, & Transgender) focused webinar, participants will explore the social and cultural impacts of identifying as LGBQ and/or T in the U.S. today. Some key concepts we’ll explore include gender pronouns, definitions of sexual orientations, explanations of preferred/updated language, and statistics regarding the implications of LGBQ & T discrimination. We hope attendees will leave with increased confidence in their ability to create respectful, inclusive and affirming interactions with those diverse communities they serve.
In this hour-long introduction to the concept of sexuality and gender acceptance, participants will…
- explore key concepts and competencies for working with members of the LGBQ & T community,
- prepare to address biased language and inequities one might encounter toward the LGBQ & T community,
- learn about the factors needed to create an environment that is respectful, inclusive and affirming for all.
