OhioNet MakerFest: A Summit for Library Makers & Makerspaces
Description
OhioNet MakerFest: A Summit for Library Makers and Makerspaces takes place on June 18, 2025, at the State Library of Ohio. This in-person event will explore how organizations can establish, maintain, and enhance making programs or makerspaces across library types.
Attendees will hear from keynote speaker Sarah Nagle, Creation and Innovative Services Librarian at Miami University, as she presents “Envisioning the Future of Equity and Belonging in Library Makerspaces.”
OhioNet MakerFest will feature a day of sessions including our keynote speaker, a practitioner panel, and hands-on activities. Additional details and schedule to be announced.
Please Note: This is an in-person event hosted at the State Library of Ohio. Registration includes coffee and tea in the morning, light snacks, and a full lunch. As this is a live, in-person event, sessions will not be recorded or available in OhioNet’s Training Archive.

Presenters

Sarah Nagle Creation and Innovative Services Librarian, Miami University
Sarah Nagle is Creation and Innovation Services Librarian at Miami University in Ohio. Sarah has worked in library makerspaces since 2015, both in public and academic libraries. She planned and opened a new makerspace at Miami’s King Library in 2019, which she still currently runs along with an amazing team. Her work includes supporting maker-centered learning and innovation topics through instruction, events, and outreach. Sarah founded and serves as co-chair of the Nation of Makers Libraries Working group and chair of the CORE Maker Technology Interest Group. Her current research interests include gender in maker/creative spaces, creating welcoming and inclusive library makerspaces, and using creativity to fight burnout in library staff.Â
