Description
The Librarian for Collection Services provides leadership in overseeing the acquisitions, cataloging, usage assessment, and e-resource management lifecycle of the library’s digital and physical collections and is a key contributor in efforts to ensure seamless access through existing and evolving technologies. In close collaboration with other library staff along with external vendors and publishers, this role will develop workflows, best practices, documentation, explore new trends and developments, and respond to evolving campus needs related to collections.
Duties Include but are not limited to:
Leads by example and manages the day-to-day operations of Collection Services including supervision of department staff.
Manages the lifecycle of the library’s electronic resources. This includes content management of e-resources, licensing, contracts, and agreements; assistance with vendor negotiations; database or product trials; and ensuring seamless access to all the library’s e-serials and e-resource subscriptions.
Works with library staff to maintain efficient workflow for ordering and renewal in accordance with budgetary priorities.
Monitors budget allocations and ensures effective stewardship of library funds
Tracks and communicates information to library staff about database licensing & content and changes for database vendors.
Serves as the point person for troubleshooting problems with access and content of electronic resources. Monitors delivery and continuing availability of electronic resources. Interfaces with vendors, systems librarian, and IT support, as needed to resolve problems.
Collaborates with library staff to ensure that all library collections are discoverable and accessible.
Coordinates special projects related to print and electronic resources.
Aids in collection development tasks.
Collects, analyzes, and disseminates usage statistics for reports and review purposes for electronic resources. Provides reports to library director in analysis of usage data.
Evaluate existing procedures and workflows, revising or replacing them as needed to maximize efficiency and job performance in a continually evolving collection resources landscape.
Develop and maintain excellent publisher and vendor relationships.
Keep abreast of emerging developments, technologies, bibliographic standards, and trends affecting electronic resource management by attending meetings, conferences, programs, workshops, and monitoring listservs.
Participate in initiatives to align library services with diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities.
Engage in continuous professional self-development and keep current with emerging library practices, methodologies, and technologies.
Performs other related duties as required.
Other Information:
This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative exempt position. The position is located in Geneva, NY. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Salary range: $60,095-$99,081

Required Qualifications
ALA accredited MLIS or equivalent advanced degree.
Demonstrated experience with e-resource management, acquisitions, and library technical services.
Strong attention to detail; commitment to efficiency and accuracy.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive and productive collaborations with students, faculty, and library colleagues.
Self-motivated, dependable, and reliable.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Experience hiring, managing, and developing staff.
The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications
Prior experience in an academic library
Knowledge of cataloging and metadata standards
Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and provide meaningful interpretation of electronic resource usage statistics in support of collection development.
Demonstrated knowledge with emerging technologies and trends related to electronic resources.
Experience working with any of the following: OCLC, GOBI, Alma, Summon, and Springshare.
Experience working with vendors and other electronic content providers.
Experience with or demonstrated willingness to learn workflows and processes related to interpreting, managing, and negotiating licensing agreements.
Experience with leadership, supervising, and/or training in the use of new procedures, tools, or services.
